This is the second Elizabeth movie of Cate Blanchett. The nth Queen Elizabeth movie. Well, Cate is nominated for an Oscar for her performance. If she could've won, it will be her second too. I think it's a wise decision not letting her win again, because that is sooo redundant. Not to mention that Helen Mirren has already won a Golden Globe, Emmy and some other awards whatevers for the same role. So much to say, but does it mean that if you play Queen Elizabeth it's a sure Oscar or an award whatever? *think*wonder*ponder*think*
Of course, Cate has an astonishing performance in the movie. She's a queen indeed. And if there will be another Elizabeth movie (even from a Kevin Smith point of view), she is still perfect for the role.
What so amazing about Elizabeth movies? The queen has a new lover every time, but yet get to manage in ending up as The Virgin Queen. U huh, u huh are you feeling me now?
There's this one scene that depicts female masturbation so elegantly. I say, masturbation fit for a queen.
The scene shows the queen watching Bess (Abbie Cornish) and Walter Raleigh (Clive Owen) having sex... hmmnn now you get it?!
I think, Queen Elizabeth did not have sex because of self-preservation. Maybe she thinks that sex will suck her into the void of vulnerability and weakness a.k.a. being a complete female in every essence of the word. She can't be that. She needs to run a country. She rather become mother of many than become mother of a few.
There's also this scene, wherein she asks Raleigh for something. I think she wants some nookie nookie* and sukeh sukeh**, but all she wants is a kiss. *flutter* awwwhh sweet huh? I just don't want to comment on the Raleigh, because this review will be so long already.
Oh well, this is a great movie. It makes you want to review history and relate and wonder perhaps.
*sex
**blow job
